Thomas was born to become a priest . While he was very young,his father used to take him regularly for daily mass .After every sunday mass,his father used to hold bible class at home and taught young Thomas  to read Tamil Bible. His reading was  translated into Malayalam by others. This prayer gathering used to be attended by many elderly persons.This created a  desire in young Thomas's mind to become a priest.Moreover Kuruvilla used to help the priest in mass .While Kuruvilla was bedridden, Thomas was a studying in seminary .Soon after Kuruvilla's  death,young Thomas fell sick and  due to prolonged illness his elder brother took him to Madras for better  treatment for 3-4 months.But he didn'nt recover from illness and passed away on 20 January 1920, when he was only 24 years old .Although Thomas had by then became onlyLector,  Bishop Thomas Kurialasserry accepted him as a full priest and allowed his body to be buried in Changanacherry,Kochupally.(now Martha Marium church)
