Son of Chandy Geevarghese and Mariyamma. Born as the eleventh and youngest child of his parents, he had intermediate studies in SB College. He had shown interest in music and had other extracurricular activities. From 1935 to 1942, he worked in A V Thomas and Co., while his brother O. V. Mathew was Asst. Manager in AVT. He also started an agency for sale of AVT products during his leisure. He married Elykutty of Karikuzhy family, Kavalam. While he was staying with family in Kottayam, he left his job in AVT and joined his brother’s O. V. Thomas business. As his father expired in March 1945 he returned home and started a provision store. As this did not do well, he joined with a partner and brother O. V. Mathew and started another business. As this also failed, he and brother O.V. Mathew together purchased 10 acre paddy field. He then started rice business in Kottayam. He later took up agency for sale of calcium carbide produced by electric chemicals, Chingavanam. Based on his performance this company appointed him as senior officer. He worked here for 10 years. He later started a provision store with brother Outhakutty. As President, Secretary of Olassayil Kudumba Sanghadena he played a major role in raising fund. He died of old age on 7th March 2002 and his wife expired on 7th June 2002. | |
