Son of O.V. Pothen and Eliyamma

Following his father’s early death, Chandychen had to take up family responsibilities at an young age. Alongwith studies, he started doing rice business. This enabled him to clear family debts. After college studies, he served in Indian Army from 1965 to 1982. After this, he went and settled in USA.  He considered receiving pension for his services in Army till death and as an honour he did not accept citizenship in USA 

From 1983 onwards, he is doing various business in USA. He helped Bishop Mar George Alenchery in mobilizing funds in USA.

Chandychen married Lillykutty, daughter of K.J. Thomas and Thresiamma, Vaypore.
