The youngest son of Kochandy Vareeth, Joseph nick named as Kochousephachen stayed with his parents at Vadakkeveedu. After Malayalam studies, he studied English at SB High school, but had to discontinue studies to look after his aged father.  He married twice. The first wife died without children, he remarried Annamma of Cherpumkal Muthaserry family. His main job was looking after the family property. He also helped his elder brother Pothen in business. He did not earn much from this. So he sold his house and land to his cousin brother  OC Varghese and moved to Kadainikad in   the east at and engaged in agriculture in a property taken on lease. This also did not succeed. During this period, his wife expired. So he returned to Changanacherry, purchase land and a house and settled near Ananthasramam.  He was a simple person who had high values . He felt sick and as per his desire to have the last blessing  given soon , a priest was summoned and gave him the last blessing. Very soon he left this world on 16 March, 1942. His body was buried and Fr Joseph Olassayil, his eldest brother Pothen’s son performed the last rites.
