Chandichen  had his schooling in St. Joseph's School and S.B High School.He passed intermediate and BA in 1937 securing high rank from SB College. Then he wished to take up a job and  his first appointment was in 1938 in Canara Industrial and Syndicate Bank  (now known as  Syndicate Bank)  in Uduppi, Mysore.  His sincerity, dedication and hard work enabled him to  become the  Manager of the bank  within a very short period. .. From then onwards ,his growth in the bank was spectacular. He was appointed Area Manager of Kerala  and Lakshadeep. His services at this point  of time was lent to India Apex for two years. During this period he passsed CAIIB and having scored highest mark in Bnking Law and Practice in this examination ,he secured Sir. Sorabji N Pokkenwallah Prize. He soon became Divisional Manager and his valuable contributionate to Syndicate Bank enabled him to become very close to the top brass of Manipal Pai family namely Dr.TMA Pai, founder of Syndicate Bank, Manipal Engineering College, Kasturba Medical College etc., Mr. T.A Pai former Cabinet Minister, GOI, Mr. Ramesh Pai, Registrar of Manipal Institutions and all these persons had very high praise for the meritorious work Chandy was doing for their institution. On retiring from Syndicate Bank in 1975, he was appointed as the Chairman of Catholic Syrian Bank on 22 july 1977 and the bank was able to get RBI approval for this post quite easily. He was felicitated by former students association of SB college. On completion of his assignment ,he was leading retired life in his Parel House. Quite unexpectedly he developed chest pain and died of heart attack on 26-3-1983 while he was only 65 years old. He married Kunjoojamma, the eldest daughter of Kochummen Perummal and Chechamma of Mattakkal Panamgottethu, Niranom on 11 November 1946.
